Abstract
Objective;To investigate the expression and clinical significance of MTA1 (metastasis-associated gene 1} protein in cervical cancers. Methods :MTA1 expression and correlation with clinico-pathological features were explored in 20 normal cervical tissues, 50 cervical cancers by immunohistochemistry. Results:The MTA1 protein was located in the cellular nuclei of normal cervical tissues, while it distributed both in cytoplasm and/or on membrane besides nuclei in cervical cancer and metastatic lymph nodes. The expression level of MTA1 in cervical cancer tissues and metastatic lymph nodes were significantly higher than that in normal cervical tissues. Overexpression of MTA1 was correlated with lymph nodes metastasis, the depth of infiltration and vascular involvement. The relationship of MTA1 protein with histological type and tumor differentiation was not found. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis did not show MTA1 was a prognostic factor. Conclusions: The overexpression of MTA1 may play a role in the carcinogenesis, development, invasion and metastasis of cervical cancers. The relationship between MTA1 expression and prognosis of cervical cancers still needs to be further explored.关键词
