Impact of Atorvastatin Therapy on Blood Pressure and Pregnancy Associated Plasma Protein A in Patients with Prehypertension and Hyperlipidemia

Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of atorvastatin on blood pressure and pregnancy associated plasma protein A ( PAPP - A ) in patients with prehypertension and hyperlipidemia. Methods Eighty patients with prehyperten-sion and hyperlipidemia were enrolled in the study and randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group. The control group was treated with placebo and the treatment group was treated with atorvastatin for 12 weeks. Blood pressure, pregnancy associated plasma protein A and lipid levels were checked after treatment and compared between the two groups. Results After 12 weeks of treatment, blood pressure, total cholesterol level ( TC ), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol level ( LDL - C ) and pregnancy associated plasma protein A ( PAPP - A ) were significantly decreased ( P < 0. 05 ), while high density lipoprotein cholesterol level ( HDL - C ) were significantly increased in the treatment group in comparison with the same group before treatment and with the control group ( P < 0. 05 ). No significant difference in the levels of blood pressure, pregnancy associated plasma protein A and lipid levels between before and after treatment was noted in control group ( P > 0. 05 ). Conclusion Intervention treatment with atorvastatin is one of the effective measures that decrease blood pressure and pregnancy associated plasma protein A in patients with prehypertension.关键词
