Abstract

The paraffin wrapt to microcapsule with urea-formaldehyde resin to resolve the compatibility issues for phase change materials was studied. The parameters affecting the coating process were investigated, including emulsifier kind, emulsifier dosage and the mechanical rotation speed. The morphology of the microcapsules varying with the acidification time was observed. Experimental results show that, when the complex emulsifier is composed of 71% octadecanoic acid and 29% triethanolamine, the microcapsules made from 7% complex emulsifier at the rotation speed of 1 000 r/min and the acidification time for microcapsule synthesis is 90 min are of uniform particle size, smooth and wellsealed, and an average particle size of 29. 8 /im.
