Effects of Holding and Remelting on the Microstructure and Properties of AlSi7Mg

Abstract
AISi7Mg alloy is refined by AI-5Ti-B and modified by AMOSr, this paper investigates the effect of holding time and remelting on the microstructure and properties of AISi7Mg. The results show that the grain size of AISi7Mg alloy decreases in the initial stage and then increases during the 4 hours. The weight of Ti content is almost unchanged, but heterogeneous nucleation precipitate in the long holding time which leads into the decrease of nucleation. Sr is burned out during the holding time, which presents a serious fading of eutectic silicon modification process. The fading of refinement is not apparent in the first two times of remelting, the content of Sr decreases rapidly, and the shape of eutectic silicon likes the unmodified eutectic silicon. From the holding time and remelting experiments, when Sr is less than 0. 004%, there is no effect on the modification of eutectic silicon.关键词
