摘要

Abstract

The A356 alloy was solidified by addition of rare earth metals (erbium). The effect of erbium on morphology and mechanical properties of semi-solid A356 alloy was investigated. The result reveals that the addition of erbium(0. 1 %) promotes the morphology of A356 alloy and change the morphology of primary α-AI grains from rosette to spherical shape with refinement of grain size. Meanwhile, the additions of rare earth metals modify eutectic silicon, promote a transition of the morphology of the eutectic silicon phase from a flake-like configuration to a fine shape. So that the mechanical properties of semi-solid A356 alloy were enhance.
