Abstract
Objective To study the relation between Helicobacter pylori(HP) infection and upper digestive tract disease in officers and men of coastal military units in order to provide evidence for preventing and treating them. Methods Officers and men of coastal military units underwent gastroscopy. Biopsy was taken 2cm from greater and lesser curvatures of stomach, respectively, for the detection of HP by rapid urease test. Results A total of 262 cases received gastroscopy with a positive HP infection detection rate of 95.8%, and 145 cases underwent rapid urease test with a positive HP infection detection rate of 55.3%. Conclusion The HP infection rate is identical in officers and men of coastal military units and in common Chinese populations. HP infection is closely related with duodenal ulcer, duodenitis, and chronic gastritis. Since it is difficult for the officers and men in the grass-root military units to see doctors, acid-suppressing, gastric motility-promoting and gastric mucosa-protecting drugs should be well prepared in hospitals at the grass-root military units and HP should be radically eliminated.关键词
