摘要

Abstract

Taking 120 finishing pigs (the males were emasculated, and the females were not emasculated) with about 100 kg body weight as the tested materials, the effects of sex on the body measurement traits, carcass performance and meat quality of pigs were studied. The results showed that the girth of paunch, backwards -counting 3 ~4 lumbar vertebra fatback thickness and backwards -counting 3 ~4 thoracic vertebra fatback thickness of sow pig group were significantly lower than those of boar group(P <0.05). The average fatback thickness and sebum percentage of sow pig group were obviously lower than those of boar group ( P < 0.01). The backwards -counting 3 ~4 thoracic vertebra muscle thickness, lean meat rate of living body and lean meat rate of sow pig group were 11.52% (P<0.05) , 2.80 per cent (P<0.01) and 2.97 per cent (P<0.01) higher than those of boar group respectively. There was no significant difference in meat quality characters between sow pig group and boar group.
