摘要

Abstract

Aiming at the R/2-segregation phenomenon found in high carbon round billet produced by a domestic plant, a model of its formation, based on correlation of macrosegregation and solidification structure of round billet, and considering the solidification properties of round billet and casting process, was proposed in this paper. The formation mechanism of equiaxed crystal in high carbon steel during solidification and driving force caused R/2-segregation were described in this model, which agreed well with the results obtained in industrial practice with varied electromagnetic stirring and secondary cooling systems. From the model, it could be known that appropriate electromagnetic stirring intensity and controlling the bulging of billet are very important for eliminating R/2-segregation.
