Abstract
A method of global optimization of parameters of the wide area damping controllers and STATCOM controller is presented for improving the damping of the interconnected power system. The wide area damping controllers and STATCOM controller and its mathmatic model are introduced, and then a bacterial foraging optimization (BFO) algorithm is described. The parameters of the controllers are optimized simultaneously by using the BFO to minimize the fitness function of ITSE with Matlab. The fitness function is calculated by solving the differential-algebraic equations of power system. A 10-machine 39-bus New England system is used to test the method of the coordinated design. The test results show that the coordinated design of these controllers can enhance the dynamic stability of power system.关键词
