Abstract
Objective:To explore the role of Chinese acupoint massage in the treatment of children with Down syndrome. Methods: 13 cases of children with Down syndrome were differentiated according to traditional Chinese medicine and divided into three types, yin deficiency of spleen - kidney,qi deficiency of spleen and kidney,and insufficiency of heart and kidney. Based on this,the children were given the corresponding acupoint massage for treatment and local acupoint massage as well as finger joints stretch,once a day,six times a week and three months as a course of treatment. Results:53. 8% of children showed marked curative effect,whose response capability, memory, counting ability, comprehension and language skills were significantly improved, and their facial features, hand characteristics were improved to some extent. 23. 1% of children showed some curative effect and their conditions were improved; there were still 23. 1 % of invalid patients with no improvement in disease condition. Conclusion: Chinese acupoint massage can effectively improve the intellectual levels of children with Down syndrome,language abilities and facial and hand characteristics.关键词
