Abstract

I-V cyclic voltammogram, UV were used to discuss organic matter degradation. Results of I-V cyclic voltammograms showed the redox peaks corresponding to organic substance were not observed in the treated solutions. Instead, a couple of Fe3+/Fe2+ redox peaks were observed. IR results indicated that organic substance was decomposed. The degradation and the decolorization of dyes were confirmed by the measurements of visible spectrum and chemical analysis. The decolorization of azo dyes waste water was close to 100% , and the CODcr remove rate after treatment by FeO42-/Al (OH)3 coagulant was over 60%. After treatment of ferrate, the organic part of azo dyes wastewater gradually reduced, and the rate of decoloration was more than 90%. After azo dyes wastewater was treated by the FeO42-/Al (OH)3 coagulant, the removal rate of CODcr was more than 60% and the rate of decoloration reached 100%.
