Expression of Tiam1 in lung carcinoma and normal lung tissue and its clinical significance

Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between T lymphoma invasion and metastasis inducing factor 1 (Tiaml) and lung carcinoma, and to explore the role of Tiaml protein in the formation, development, and metastasis of lung carcinoma. Methods The expressing intensity (positive unit, PU) of Tiaml in 760 microarray cores, which contained 102 lung carcinoma tissues, 20 normal adult lung tissues, and 20 embryonic lung tissues, were detected by immunohistochemistry and image analysis. The differences of Tiaml expression among normal adult type II alveolar epithelial cells , embryonic alveolar epithelial cells , primary lung carcinoma, and lymph nodes were quantitatively analyzed. Results The PU of Tiaml in lung carcinoma (12.51 ± 4.62) was significantly greater than those in normal adult type II alveolar epithelial cells (5.66 ± 1.29) and embryonic alveolar epithelial cells (5.87 ± 0.99) , (F = 41.251 ,P = 0.000) , and was greater in primary lung carcinomas with lymph node metastases (14.33 ± 4.66) than that in those without metastases (11.13 ± 4.11), (t= 3.674, P=0.000), and was greater in tumors of TNM III-IV stage (15.11 ± 3.61) than that in I-II stage (11.95 ± 4.63), (t= 2.72, P= 0.008). The expressing intensity of Tiaml was not associated with patients' gender and age , and general types, histological types, and differentiation of the tumor. Conclusion The expressing intensity of Tiaml in lung carcinoma was significantly greater than those in normal adult lung tissues and embryonic lung tissues , and the expression of Tiaml is associated with the formation , development, and metastasis of lung carcinoma.关键词
