Abstract
At present, modeling simplification algorithm taken geometric position changes after edge collapse as a collapse cost The proposed algorithm is lack of well consideration on keeping visual effects of modeling and leads to rapid changes of modeling visual features. After doing enough analysis and research on simplification algorithm and all kinds of simplification rules for geometrical modeling at home and abroad, the paper puts forward an improved modeling simplification algorithm: quadric error metric edge collapse algorithm based on normal important degree of triangular facets. The algorithm takes control on normal with more important degree and avoid the high-degree edges collapsing. The new algorithm speeds up the model simplification procedure and imptoves the quality of model simplification. The new algorithm ensures surfaces of modeling well-proportioned.关键词
