Nursing experience of thoracic drainage with a double-lumen central venous catheter combined with medication injections for tuberculous hydrothorax

Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy and nursing experience of thoracic drainage with a double-lumen central venous catheter combined with medication injections for tuberculous hydrothorax.Methods 80 patients with medium or large amounts of tuberculous hydrothorax were randomly divided into study group ( n=41 ) and control group ( n=39 ).The study group received chest drainage with a double-lumen central venous catheter combined with intrathoracic medication injection; the control group received repeated thoracic punctures to remove pleural effusions without medication injection; and both groups received the same nursing intervention.The efficacy,incidence of complications,and medical costs were compared between the two groups.Results The indexes including average time to effusion absorption,medical costs,degree of pleural thickness,and complications ( pleura reaction rate and incidence rates of pneumothorax enclosed pleural fluid ) were lower in the study group than in the control group,with a statistical difference ( P ＜ 0.05 ).Conclusions Thoracic drainage with a double-lumen central venous catheter combined with intrathoracic medication injection for tuberculous hydrothorax is simple,convenient,safe,and economic; and it has a good efficacy with fewer complications.关键词
