Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) on oxidative stress in diabetic mice. METHODS: Mice were given Streptozotocin (STZ) intraperitoneally to establish diabetic model. After modeling 8 weeks, diabetic mice were randomly divided into non-treatment group and NAC treatment group (200 mg·kg-1·d-1) with each group of 6 mice. Two groups were given relevant medicine intraperitoneally once a day for 4 weeks. Body weight and blood glucose of mice before and after medication and the level of lipid peroxidation marker (8-isoprostane) in urine was determined after medication, compared with normal control group. RESULTS: Compared with normal control group, body weight of mice in non-treatment group and NAC treatment group decreased significantly before and after treatment, while the level of blood glucose increased significantly (P<0.001). There was no significant difference between two groups. Compared with non-treatment group, the level of 8-Isoprostane in urine in NAC treatment groups decreased significantly (P<0.01). There was no significant difference between normal control group and NAC treatment group. CONCLUSION: NAC could effectively attenuate the oxidative stress in diabetic mice.关键词
