Experimental study on a high-speed trimaran-planing boat

Abstract
To verify the ability of a trimaran-planing boat sailing at ultra-high speeds and to investigate its characteristics of resistance, model tests were conducted to analyze the resistance trim, heave and effeets of spray rails of models with different displacements and center of gravity locations. The results show that the two outriggers of the trimaran-planing boat increase the impact of aerodynamic lift and improve the hydrodynamic performance at high speeds, leading to excellent longitudinal stability, low resistance, and less spray. With the Frv >8 conditions stable sailing was still possible, and there were two significant changes in the resistance peak and altitude. Also, the second amplitude was lower than the first, and the spray rails improved the boat altitude at very high speeds.关键词
