Abstract
A Geographic Information System ( GIS) can provide users with a convenient and efficient system of mapping. This paper makes use of various typef of data obtained by previous Antarctic surveys by collating them on a purpose-built ArcGIS server platform, designed and implemented as a public polar information system. The system design and development processes are presented in a gradual fashion. The main functions of the system are introduced, with emphasis on the information inquiry functions and spatial analysis capabilities. The system interface is friendly and easy to operate. Thematic data in the realization of polar information are shared, and at the same time, provide a means to disseminate a majority of polar information, thereby providing an efficient service to polar science.关键词
