Development and study on extraction coupled distillation technology for 2,3-butanediol separation

Abstract
The characteristics of three solvents including n-butanol, ethyl acetate and butyl acetate were confirmed on the basis of the liquid-liquid equilibrium data of prior-phase lab experimental study. According to the characteristics, two innovative batch-continuous extraction technological routines were designed and studied, respectively. When ethyl acetate or butyl acetate is taken as extraction solvent, the distribution coefficients are small and big phase ratio (mass ratio) is necessary to satisfy 2,3-butanediol extraction. The corresponding extraction coupled distillation technology No. 1 (solvent is continuous and feed is discontinuous) is designed. This technology has the characteristics of gradually increasing phase ratio and continuous extraction. When n-butanol is taken as extraction solvent, the heterogeneous zone and the range of practical phase ratio are small. And the corresponding extraction coupled distillation technology No. 2 (solvent and aqueous phase after rectification are continuous and feed is discontinuous) is designed. This technology has the characteristics of fixed phase ratio and continuous extraction. With the targets of both 2, 3-butanediol extraction rate and solvent loss rate, the corresponding appropriate technological conditions were studied and obtained, under which 2, 3-butanediol extraction rate can be above 90% , thus solving effectively the problem that the three solvents of n-butanol, ethyl acetate and butyl acetate can hardly extract 2,3-butanediol with common methods.关键词
