Abstract

In 2009 - 2010, two heat pump and solar energy bulk curing barns were built and used in south west of Guizhou. Using solar energy could increase loading room temperature from ambient temperature to 48°C. When the heat pump was used for curing tobacco (control), power consumption and energy cost per kg dry leaf were 3. 08 kW · H and 1. 40 yuan, respectively. By using heat pump and solar energy together, energy cost per kg dry leaf was 1. 06 yuan, saving 24. 29% compared to the control. While using heat pump and solar energy accompanied by recycling use of exhausted hot moisture, energy cost per kg dry leaf was 0. 94 yuan, saving 32. 86% compared to the control. With development and improvement of heat pump technology and solar energy utilization technology, heat pump and solar energy bulk curing barn as a new energy saving way will have a good promotion prospect.
