Dual-band Differential Antenna Based on Stepped Impedance Resonator

Abstract
This paper presents a method for the coaxial feeding dual-band differential antenna with stepped impedance resonator (SIR) structure. The antenna is symmetric, and its transmission line model contains two resonant units. By simplifying and analyzing the resonant unit, it is proved that the resonant unit is similar to the standard one-quarter wavelength SIR, and the relationship between the electric length and impedance ratio of the resonant unit and the operating frequencies is deduced. According to the method, a 2.4/5.2 GHz dual-band differential antenna is designed, and the positions of the feed points are optimized when the antenna model is simulated. The realized antenna size is 28.2 mrn× 23.5 mm, equivalent toO. 4λ × 0.33λ. Being fabricated and measured, the designed antenna has operating frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5.11 GHz, the corresponding gains of 1.9 dBi and 6.6 dBi, respectively. The simulated and measured results show that the presented method for designing dual-band differential antenna is feasible and effective.关键词
