Abstract
A series of non-stoichiometric magnesia-alumina spinel powder and transparent ceramics were prepared(MgO · nAl2O3, n = 1, 1.5, 2, 4). The effect of "n" on the powder phase, optical property and flexural strength of transparent ceramics were investigated in this paper. When n = 1.5, 2, 4, MgO · nAl2O3 powder are in pure spinel phase. The flexural strength of MgO · 1.5 A12O3 is improved greatly from 152 Mpa(MgO · A12O3) to 215 Mpa(MgO ·1.5 A12O3) by a growth rate of 41%, Mid-IR transmittance of MgO · 1. 5 A12O3 and stoichiometric magnesia-alumia spinel ( MgAl2O4, MgOoAl2O3) are matched also. The improvement of flexural strength is advantageous to the application of magnesia-alumia spinel transparent ceramics.关键词
