Suburban Residents' Use of Commercial Facilities in Shanghai and the Corresponding Planning Strategies—A Case Study of Xinzhuang Area

Abstract
Suburbanization and suburban residents' unique way of using commercial facilities have influenced the layout of urban commercial facilities. The paper selects Xinzhuang as the study area to analyze residents' demand on commercial facilities at different locations, using cross-analysis method to reveal use intensities by different social groups in terms of time of residence, place of work and income levels. It discusses the quantities and types of commercial facilities needed at different stages of the suburbanization process. The study provides both theoretical and normative implications for commercial facility planning under a context of rapid suburbanization.关键词
