摘要

Abstract

The Cocore Pdshell nanoparticles with various shell thickness were prepared by template synthesis of colloid particles, and characterized by XRD, TEM and EDS. The results show that Cocore Pdshell nanoparticles are spherical and the Co nanoparticles act as seeds to guide the growth of face-centered-cubic Pd. The mean particle diameter of Co1Pd2 is about 10 nm with a relatively narrow size distribution. The electrocatalytic activities of the catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and methanol tolerance were characterized by electro-chemistry methods. The Ccocore Pdshell/C nano catalysts showed higher catalytic activities than Pd/C catalysts, even close to the Pt/C. For synthesized Cocore Pdshell catalysts, the highest catalytic activity for the ORR was found at n(Pd) :n(Co) atomic ratio of 2:1, giving current density of 175. 5 mA/mg. Because the Cocore Pdshell catalyst is inactive for the adsorption and oxidation of methanol, it may function as a methanol-tolerant ORR catalyst in direct methanol fuel cell.
