Abstract

Aiming at the situation of being unique in structural features of the surface miner, we can accurately separate the coal from gangue to decrease the los of coal and decrease the mixing degree of coal and gangue. To reasonably determine the mining thickness of surface miner, we establish a coal loss and gangue mixing model based on the cutting roller track of the miner to figure out the key index and the formula for the determination of thickness and for the calculation of shale content and the calorific value of coal. The results show that, the greater the total thickness of coal seams, the less the parting layer, and the better the selective effect. The mining thickness determination principle is established based on mining thickness determined and on the factors affecting the such determination. The findings of our study of No. 5 coal seam in Shengli surface mine show that, the no. 5 coal seam has numerous parting layer, thin coal seams, so 0. 25 m is determined as the reasonable mining thickness. This study has provided an analytical method and theoretical basis for determination of mining thickness.
