Abstract
Objective To study the reliability and validity of COPD Assessment Test( CAT) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) ,and to explore its value in evaluating quality of life in Chinese patients. Methods 107 patients with COPD ( male 57, female 50), aged 67. 4 ± 9. 8 (40 ~ 86 ) years were enrolled from Department of Respiratory Disease in the first Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University between Apr 2010 and Feb 2011. The quality of life was assessed with the Chinese version of CAT and SGRQ respectively and pulmonary function test was performed at the same time. The validity and reliability of the CAT were documented. Spearman's rank correlation coefficients were calculated for the analysis of correlation between CAT scores and SGRQ scores, pulmonary function parameters separately. Results The Cronbach's alpha was 0. 796 for CAT. The correlation coefficients between each item score and total score of CAT were 0. 413 ~0. 758. 2 dimensions were obtained with Factor Analysis, which could account for 59. 18% of the total variance,The correlation coefficients between each dimension and total score of CAT(0.960,0. 549, P <0. 01) were bigger than the correlation coefficient between dimensions (0. 292 ,P <0. 01). CAT scores was significantly positively correlated with SGRQ scores (r = 0. 735,P<0. 01) ,and significantly negatively correlated with FEV1% (r= -0.441 ,P <0. 01) and FEV1%FVC ( r = - 0. 324,P< 0. 01). Conclusion As a simple, reliable and valid HRQL measure, the Chinese version of the CAT can correctly reflect the quality of life of paients with COPD in China, which can be used to assess the quality of life for the Chinese COPD patients.关键词
