Abstract

Sodium acrylate and sodium p-toluenesulfonate in butyl acrylate wastewater were transformed into acrylic acid and p-toluene sulfonic acid in a three-chambered bipolar membrane electrodialysis device, and then the organic acid solution was recovered. The effect of the volume ratio of initial solution in salt chamber to that in acid chamber on the transformation was studied. The experimental results show that: When the volume ratio is 5, the mass concentrations of acrylic acid and p-toluene sulfonic acid in the recovered solution are 161. 5 g/L and 25.0 g/L, respectively; During the electrodialysis process, the average current density is 18. 7 mA/cm2 with 77. 7% of current efficiency; The transformation rates of sodium acrylate and sodium p-toluenesulfonate are 98. 5% and 99.3% , respectively; The specific energy consumption is 0.172 kW ? H/mol.
