Abstract

[Objective] The aim of the study was to understand the mechanism of the effects of biogas slurry combinated with nitrogen fertiliz er on soil quality. [ Method] An investigation was made on vegetable field to study the influences of chemical nitrogen fertilizer, biogas slurry and their combinations with nitrogen and slurry on soil chemical properties, microbial biomass and soil enzyme activities. [ Results ] Compared to no fertilize treatment, the contents of NO3 , NH4 + , available P and K in soil were clearly increased by nitrogen fertilize, biogas slurry and combined nitrogen and biogas slurry treatments. In addition, biomass C and N were significantly increased, but biomass C/N was decreased in these treatments. Although nitrogen fertilize had a stronger impact on soil polyphenol oxidase activities, it had no significant effect on activities of cellulose and chitinase. Compared to no fertilize treatment, the only application of biogas slurry resulted in higher activities of polyphenol oxidase, cellulose and chitinase. Among these treatments, combined nitrogen and biogas slurry treatment had most significant effects on soil microbial biomass and enzyme activities. [ Conclusion ] It was concluded that the application of nitrogen combined with biogas slurry improved the soil chemical properties and microbial activities, being an effective measure to improve the quality and fertility of vegetable soil.
