Synthesis and Characterization of Y3Al5O12 Nano-particles by Gel Combustion Method at Low Temperature

Abstract
Mono-phase Y3Al5O12(YAG) nano-particles were synthesized by gel combustion method with Y(NO3)3·6H2O, A1(NQ3)3·9H2O and citric acid as the main raw materials. The precursor xerogel and YAG powders were characterized by means of infrared spectrum(IR), differential thermal analysis (DTA), X ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) to investigate the homogeneous transition of sol-to-gel, crystallization temperature of YAG phase etc. The results indicated that citric acid coordinate Y3+ and Al3+ in a monodentate fashion and the homogeneous transition of sol-to-gel were achieved. The pure YAG of cubic crystalline phase crystallized from amorphous precursor powders at 750 X. (no impurity of YA1O3 and Y4Al2O9. The similar spherical YAG particles about 50 nm were obtained at 900 °C for 2 h.关键词
