摘要

Abstract

The fresh and the spent Pd/Al2O3 catalysts for synthesis of methyl isobutyl ketone from acetone were characterized by means of BET, XRD, SEM and O2-TPO to investigate its deactivation mechanism. The results showed that the Pd contents in both the fresh and the spent catalysts were the same, while the pore volume of the spent catalyst decreased and the average pore diameter enlarged compared to the fresh catalyst. The alumina crystal phase transformed from y alumina to hydroxyl alumina and the macromolecule byproducts deposited on the spent catalyst surface. Hence, the weakened hydrogenation ability of the catalyst resulted from the decrease of hydrogenation sites, which was caused by the transformation of the alumina crystal phase and the deposition of the macromolecule byproducts.
