摘要

Abstract

Based on the generalized Huygens-Fresnel principle and the definition of the second-order moments of the Wigner distribution function (WDF), the analytical formulas for the M2-factor of the partially coherent Hermite-Gaussian (PCHG) beams in turbulence is derived. The results show that the M2-factor of PCHG beams propagating through the atmospheric turbulence is found to be mainly determined by the beam order, degree of global coherence of the source, waist size, wavelength of the beams, structure constant of the refractive-index fluctuations of the turbulence and propagation distance. The M2-factor of PCHG beams in the turbulent atmosphere increases obviously with the beam order, structure constant of the refractive-index fluctuations of the turbulence and propagation distance. For a certain propagation distance, there is a optimal beam waist width of the beams, resulting in the minimum M2-factor of the PCHG beams in turbulence. However, Hermite-Gaussian beams and Gaussian Schell-model beams can be considered as particular cases of the PCHG beams.
