摘要

Abstract

Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) has a great impact on the performance of the high-speed opti cal transmission communication systems and it is challenging to establish an efficient compensator. A novel scheme of an optical polarization mode compensation (PMC) system is proposed. The proposed PMD com pensation system employs logical controlling unit based on DSP and CPLD platform and implements with some high-speed control components which shorten the compensation time to nearly 100 microseconds per loop. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is utilized in the whole system which could complete the first-stage and second-stage PMD compensation.
