Abstract

To improve the stability of the bio-oil obtained by fast pyrolysis of biomass, hydrodeoxygenation of the bio-oil on supported Pt catalysts was carried out in an autoclave under mild conditions. The effects of catalyst type( Pt/C and Pt/γ-M2O3) , reaction temperature(180-240 ℃) and reaction time (20 -80 min) on the hydrodeoxygenation and product yields were investigated. The results showed that under the optimal conditions of Pt/γ-M2O3 as catalyst, reaction temperature 220 ℃ and reaction time 60 min, the oxygen content in the bio-oil could be decreased by about 50%. The analysis results indicated that the contents of the unstable oxygen compounds such as acid, aldehyde and ketone in the bio-oil were decreased. The heat value and the pH of the upgraded bio-oil were heightened to 33.45 MJ/kg and 3.25. The tar yield was lower than 2% , so the catalyst life was long.
