Abstract
To investigate the correlation of peripheral white blood cell count( WBC) with carotid artary intima-media thickness (IMT) of carotid artery in patients with type 2 diabetes.MethodsIMT and WBC were analyzed in 138 patientswith type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and 46 healthy subjects.ResultsAge, duration of diabetes, WBC, high sensitivity C-reactive pro-tein (hs-CRP), body mass index (BMI), HBA1c were markedly higher in type 2 diabetic patients with abnormal IMT than those with normal IMT (all P<0.05). Spearma correlation analysis showed that WBC was positvely correlated to IMT (rs=0.4295,P< 0.01).Elevated WBC count may be an predictive factor for development of macroangiopathy in type 2 diabetic patiens.关键词
