Abstract
Objective To assess left ventricular systolic and diastolic function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by qantitative tissue velocity imaging, and to provide reliable evidence for early prevention and diagnosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy. Methods The population of the study consisted of 2 groups: 30 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and 30 control subjects (Control). Six positions of mitral annular were measured by QTVI including peak systolic velocity (Sa), peak early diastolic velocity (Ea), peak end diastolic velocity (Aa), and Ea/Aa ratio, from which the average value was taken. Results Sa were not significantly different in the DM compared with the control. Ea^Ea/Aa significantly decreased in the DM compared with the control. There were no significant differences in Aa between the 2 groups. Conclusion QTVI is a sensitive and accurate tool to evaluate LV function in diabetic patients. Diastolic dysfunction appears early in the natural history of type 2 diabetes mellitus and impaired systolic function may subsequently become apparent.关键词
