Abstract

Estimation of the potential of liquid biofuels is to provide the basis for further development in China. This paper integrated the distribution of raw materials of liquid biofuels, and sorted out the potential production of fuel ethanol and biodiesel from calculation of the wasteland for energy crops, analog of reducing high concentration of alcohol and recovery of iclegal cooking oil. Using the data of raw materials of sweet sorghum, cassava, sweet potato, edible alcohol, Jatropha, Pistacia and iclegal cooking oil, this paper calculate the potential quantity of liquid biofuels production. The result shows that by 2030, China' s potential production of fuel ethanol will reach 55 million tons, and the potential production of biodiesel will reach 32 million tons or so, so at that time China can effectively supply adequate energy for economic growth and ease the excessive energy security threat by dependence on foreign fossil fuel. Meanwhile, liquid biofuels industry should seek breakthroughs in key technologies of biofuel industrialization, and should be supported by the government' s subsidy policy , which can enhance comprehensive ability of the biofuel industry in early stage.
