Abstract
Objective To study the antimicrobial resistance and homolo-gy of vancomycin resistant Enterococci ( VRE) isolated from emergency room. Methods VRE was isolated from patients in an emergency room between November 2005 and December 2008. Minimal inhibition concentrations (MICs) were determined by the two - fold agar dilution method and the van genes were detected by multiplex PCR. Chromosome DNAs were digested by Sma -1 and analysed by PFGE. Results VanA gene of eight E. Faecium isolates from 7 patients were positive. The PFGE profiles demonstrated that the 8 isolates were largely heterogeneous in nature. Conclusion All of the VRE isolate from the emergency room were vanA type E. Faecium. Colonal dissemination was not found in the emergency room.关键词
