The phylogenetic relationships between Ulmus gaussenii Cheng and its close relatives in genus Ulmus based on the ITS and atpB-rbcL

摘要

Abstract

Conservation biology research of endanged plant has become popular in ecology area. To explore the systematic position of Ulmus gaussenii Cheng in genus Ulmus , the authors analyzed the phylogenetic relationship of U. Gaussenii and its related species in Ulmus based on DNA sequences of the chloroplase atpB-rbcL gene and the ITS region of nuclear ribosomal DNA. The sequence of atpB-rbcL in 24 species ranged from 735 to 834 and the total G+C content varied from 29.3% to 31. 6%. The phylogenetic tree based on the atpB-rbcL data showed that U. Gaussenii has near relationship with U. Glaucescens var. Lasiocarpa , U. Japonica var. Suberosa , U. Macrocarpa , U. Erythrocarpa . The phylogenetic tree based on the ITS data showed that U . Gaussenii has near relationship with U. Glaucescens var. Lasiocarpa, U. Japonica var. Suberosa , U. Macrocarpa , U. Lamellose. During the analyzing process, the authors applied distance method and bayesian method, as they give more resolution and higher support value. Also, the species of interrelationships in genus are also discussed.
