Abstract

Recently, Fe0 nanoparticles, as reactive media for in situation of subsurface environment remediation, has been extensively investigated. In this paper, research of heavy metal contaminated water remediation by Fe0 nanoparticles were reviewed including types of contaminants that may be removed, reaction mechanics and kinetics. Methods for production and stabilization of Fe0 nanoparticles, a few hot issues and advances on applications of Fe0 nanoparticles for heavy metal contaminated groundwater remediation were presented in detail. In addition, valuable references and guideline for heavy metal contaminated water remediation were provided, special issues and research direction of heavy metal contaminated groundwater remediation by Fe0 nanoparticles were discussed pertaining to its practical applications and future research.
