摘要

Abstract

Based on standards of 10G EPON technology, the paper introduced three key characteristics of 10G EPON different from 1G EPON: high-bandwidth, high splitting ratio and long-distance transmission, backward compatible. The key characteristics not only improve coverage of the access network, increase the user number of single PON, but also meet broadband need of users which is rapid developing. Because of these, it's possible that 1G EPON upgrades to 1OG EPON. In the Process of introduction of 10G EPON, two situations can be faced: building new ODN network and speeding up bandwidth based on network which has been built.
