Effects of Dietary Selenium Yeast on Antioxidant Properties and Milk Fatty Acid Composition of Dairy Cow

Abstract
The experiment was conducted to improve the milk CLA content, effects of adding sunflower oil and different levels of selenium yeast on milk fatty acid composition and antioxidant properties of dairy cattle. A total of 32 healthy Holstein cows with similar body condition, milk period and similar yield were randomly divided into 4 groups. Each group was fed with one of the following diet. The diet of Group A was added 350 g sunflower oil per cow per day. The diets of Group B,Cand D were added 8,15 and 22 g selenium yeast based on that of group A. The results show that adding selenium yeast in the sunflower oil diets increased blood selenium and milk selenium content. Adding selenium yeast in sunflower oil diets increases compared with that of Group A,B. At level of 15 g Se per cow per day, blood super oxide dismutase (SOD) capacity and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) capacity activity reached the maximum (P<0.05); supplementing selenium yeast improved CLA contents, add to the amount of 15 g per cow per day, can significantly increase the milk conjugated linoleic acid content(P<0.01).关键词
