CORRECTION OF FIRN TEMPERATURE DATA FROM AUTOMATIC WEATHER STATIONS BASED ON PIECEWISE CUBIC HERMIT INTERPOLATION AT DOME-A IN ANTARCTICA

Abstract
With snow accumulation or ablation, the height/depth of automatic weather station (AWS) sensors changes continually, leading to errors in measured data. In this study, piece-wise cubic Hermit interpolation was employed to correct firn temperature data from AWS at Dome-A. Data showed that correction level increased with accumulating snow thickness. Further, correction was positive in summer and negative in winter. It is concluded that this method is effective for correction of superficial firn temperature.关键词
