FABRICATE pH-SENSITIVE THIN LAYER THROUGH PHOTOGRAFTING OF ACRYLIC ACID ONTO HDPE FILM SURFACE

摘要

Abstract

Surface modification of a polymeric substrate by UV grafting can be used to fabricate intelligent polymer film with stimuli-responsive properties.Acrylic acid can be grafted onto polyethylene film by the liquid phase photografting method,in a butane/water/ethanol mixed solvent system.Qualitative and semi-quantitative Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) characterizations of grafted samples were performed.Gravimetry and FTIR analysis showed that extent of grafting increased with increasing irradiation time.Water absorbency and pH sensitivity of grafted polyacrylic acid were measured.Data showed that grafted polyacrylic acid layer had high water absorbency(equilibrium swelling ratio100) and high pH response rate(20 s).
