Abstract
Aluminum water reaction is a quick and effective technology for hydrogen production for fuel cell applications. The measures to improve the reaction of aluminum with water for hydrogen production were examined, the hydrogen production cost was compared, and the hydrogen production and use and residue recovery processes was designed. The experimental results show that the hydrogen production rate increases with the increase the effective alkali concentration, reaction temperature, and specific surface area of the aluminum powder. The sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide are found to improve the hydrogen production significantly. The maximum hydrogen production rates with both alkali presenting in the solution are almost the same. The promotion of calcium hydroxide on hydrogen production is significantly weaker than the first two. Under the same conditions, the magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide has almost no promotion on the aluminum water reaction. It is found that the sediment of the reaction can also promote the hydrogen production.关键词
