摘要

Abstract

A fault current limiter (FCL) based on thyristor controlled series compensation (TCSC) is proposed to perform the power control of grid and limit fault current level when fault occurs. The device mainly consists of parallel capacitor, parallel inductance, inverse parallel thyristors and an inductance connected in parallel with a switch that is used to switch over the proposed FCL between series compensation mode and current limitation mode. The proposed FCL is operated as a series compensator under normal operation condition of power system and when fault occurs it can be rapidly switched over to the operation mode of current limiter and short-circuit current can be effectively limited. To achieve the purpose of fault current limitation, a few of modifications should be applied to original series compensator. The Matlab/Simutink based simulation of the proposed FCL shows that the proposed device can control power and limit short-circuit current.
