Feeding Value Assessment of Some Tropical Shrubs in Hainan Province

Abstract
The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the feeding values of tropical shrub species in Hainan province. The nutritional ingredient, in vitro gas production (GP) , in vitro dry matter degradability (IVD-MD) and metabolizable energy (ME) of eighteen tropical shrubs were determined by component analysis and in vitro GP technique. Correlation analysis between nutritional ingredient and GP, VDMD, ME was estimated, and the multiple linear regression analysis was used to derive the prediction model. The results showed that mean values of dry matter (DM) , crude protein (CP) , ether extract (EE) , neutral detergent fiber (NDF) , acid detergent fiber (ADF) , organic matter (OM) , total tannins (TT) , relative feed value (RFV) , ME and IVDMD of eighteen tropical shrubs were 32. 22% , 14. 14% , 3. 99% , 38. 83% , 33. 67% , 91. 48% , 1. 53% , 1.14, 8. 24 MJ/kg and 58. 85% , respectively. In addition, this study found that the contents of DM, CP, EE, ADF, NDF and TT were significantly correlated with GP, IVDMD and ME (P <0. 05). In conclusion, the tropical shrubs have high contents of CP, EE, ME, IVDMD, and RFV, moderate contents of NDF and ADF, and low content of TT. Thus, tropical shrubs have higher potential nutritive values for Hainan black goats. The prediction model is proposed in the present study for GP, IVDMD and ME, which are suitable for tropical shrubs in Hainan province.关键词
