Abstract

Jiulong gold deposit, located in Fengshan county of Guangxi, occurres at the edge of late Paleozoic carbonate platform uplift. The orebody is found in the clastic rock along the contact of Triassic and Permian, showing dipping lens and bedded in the faults. In deposit area, unconformity is developed between the carbonate of Permian and the clastic rock of Triassic, typical paleokarst structure. The unconformity, overprinted by late faults, combined with paleokarst and other geologic factors, results in the formation of Jiulong gold deposit. Most gold deposit concerned with the discontinuities in northwest Guangxi has similar genesis. These gold deposits in the discontinuities and the overprinting of faulting and deformation are controlled by many geologic factors. Based on this mineralization model, the prospecting in the gold triangle area bounded by Yunnan, Guizhou, and Guangxi is proposed. Strata, fault, deformation, paleokarst are ore-controlling factors. Among them, the paleokarst, as sedimentary discontinuities, is the most important one. It is the primary factor for prospecting new hidden gold deposits in this area.
