Industrial Preparation of Spherical LiMn2O4 Cathode Material for Lithium Ion Batteries

Abstract
Spherical LiMn2O4 particles were successfully synthesized by dynamically sintering spherical precursor powders, which were prepared by slurry spray-drying method. The slurry was prepared by solution method from the starting materials of lithium hydroxide, manganese acetate and manganese carbonate. The results indicated that the two-step dynamic sintering procedure consisting of completely decomposing sprayed precursors at low temperature and further sintering at elevated temperature facilitated spherical particle formation. The spherical LiMn2O4 product made by the dynamic sintering process had a good electrochemical performance for lithium ion batteries. This novel method combining a dynamic sintering system and a spray-drying process was an effective synthesis method for spherical cathode material in lithium ion batteries.关键词
