Biomimetic Preparation and Structural Characterization of Biomorphic 45S5 Glass-ceramic

Abstract
Biomorphic 45S5 glass-ceramic with the inherent porous structure of cane was prepared by combination of plant replication method and sol–gel process.X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and scanning electron microscopy were employed to investigate effects of heat treatment conditions and 45S5 gel content in cane template on phase,chemical composition,and morphology of samples during the conversion of cane to biomorphic 45S5 glass-ceramic.Results show that devitrification of amorphous 45S5 gel is induced by a complex phase separation process.Resultant biomorphic 45S5 glass-ceramic consists of hexagonal Na2Ca2Si3O9 as a major crystal phase,orthorhombic NaCaPO4 and CaSiO3 as secondary crystal phases,and an unknown amorphous phase.The FTIR results confirm the results from XRD analysis.Both the heat treatment temperature and 45S5 gel content in the cane plate have a decisive effect on the morphology of the products.Under the optimum processing conditions,hierarchical porous structure of cane can be converted to 45S5 glass-ceramic.关键词
