摘要

Abstract

In this paper, by simulating the performance of the carrier phase estimation for optical coherent receivers, the laser linewidth requirements are investigated for the optical coherent systems with different modulation formats, and the mechanism of diffenrence in laser linewidth requiremtent for Star and Square 16-QAM is discussed. The simulation results show that, for a given bit rate, higher-level modulation formats can lower the line symbol rate, while requiring the narrower laser linewidth. In addition, the optimization of constellation plays an important role when the laser linewidth is considered.
