摘要
Abstract
To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF ) mRNA subtypes in ovarian epithelial cancer ( OEC ) and its clinical significance. Methods Tumor samples from 41 patients with OEC, 14 cases of benign tumor and 16 cases of normal controls were evaluated for VEGF mRNA subtypes expression by reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction using acrylamide gel and sliver staining. Results Three VEGF mRNA subtypes were detected, VEGF 121, VEGF 165 and VEGF 189. The expression rates of VEGF 121 and VEGF 165 in malignant tumors were significantly higher than those in benign tumors and normal tissues (x2 was 4. 90 and 9. 84, respectively, both P < 0. 05 ). VEGF 189 was only expressed in malignant tumors. VEGF mRNA subtypes were not related with pathological types, differentiation and clinical stage. The expression rate of VEGF165 in patients with mass ascites ( ≥ 1000mL ) was significantly higher than that in patients with small amount of ascites ( <1000mL ) (x2 =9. 84, P <0. 05 ). The positive expression rates of VEGF 165 and VEGF 189 in patients with positive lymph node were 92. 9% and 50. 0% , respectively, which were significantly higher than those in patients with negative lymph node (x2 was 9. 08 and 5. 60, respectively, P<0.05). In patients with omentum metastasis, the positive expression rate of VEGF 189 was 50. 0% , which was remarkably higher than that in patients with normal omentum (x2 =7.19, P <0. 05 ). Conclusion The expression of VEGF mRNA subtypes is associated with carcinogenesis and metastasis of OEC, and VEGF 165 is closely related with the production of malignant ascites. The expressions of VEGF 165 and VEGF 189 are related with the invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors, so they might be biomarkers for predicting the potency of tumors metastasis.关键词
